Jewelry
Like many creative arts practices, jewelry making can be a very meditative practice. There is nothing to think of or worry about - there is only the color, the shape, the feeling of divining what pieces want to live together. A friend of mine taught me in 2007 while I was recovering from knee surgery. It was a great way to keep my creativity while greatly physically incapacitated. Jewelry making has gotten me through several subsequent surgeries and winter storms. It's a great way to find stillness when the mind has become turbulent. Something to ponder
The thought manifests as the word.
The word manifests as the deed.
The deed develops into habit.
Habit hardens into character.
So watch the thought and its ways with care
And let it spring out of love
Born out of concern for all beings.
As the shadow follows the body,
As we think so we become
Dhammapada. The Buddha
